On Saturday 4th August KDRUC Women’s team played the Cottesloe Shegulls under lights at the Bull Ring – Hartfield Park Forrestfield. The game was a tribute match for Neesha Barrett,  our 2017 Kalamunda Women’s Team Captain and 2018 Western Force Squad Member who is fighting her own battle with cervical cancer.

The Game was played after the traditional fixtures held during the afternoon under lights.  The Kalamunda Kweens came out firing in a tough but friendly game and the motivated Kween’s cruised to a 30-0 victory.

The other  4 WA Women’s Rugby Teams – Divaz Lionesses; Nedlands, Perth Irish & Palmyra – all came to Hartfield Park after their games that afternoon to support the cause.

Along with fundraising activities during the day/night, the playing jerseys specifically designed for this Tribute Match were auctioned off with proceeds being donated to The Cancer Council of WA and Neesha Barrett.

After an excellent day of Rugby and evening entertainment this initiative raised $7,943. After costs, $6046 was equally donated to the Cancer Council and Neesha Barrett.

Well done to all involved.
